Airport development feeLobby the CCC by posting a message on the Bulletin Board
The airport is owned by Cornwall County Council ('CCC'). From Saturday 29th October 2005 a £5.00 fee was charged to all departing passengers (excluding children under 16 years) in order to secure the development and future of the airport.
As a result of this levy Ryanair announced that it would withdraw its early morning flight from Newquay to Stansted from that date.
Some 2 years later on 18th December 2007, Ryanair and the Cornwall County Council announced that they had reached agreed on long term arrangements satisfactory to both parties and that Ryanair would in 2008 operate 40 flights a week between Newquay and Stansted and was intending to add further destinations in due course.
We congratulate Ryanair and Cornwall County Council on the settlement of their long running dispute and invite members of the public to do likewise. You can
add your comments to the Cornwall Forum bulletin board which is available for this purpose.
